The Paris Mystery by Kirsty Manning
In 1938, Australian reporter Charlie James has moved to Paris to start a new job, while leaving a failing marriage behind. Her first assignment is a story on Lady Ashworth, who lives in Versailles. As Charlie gets to know Lady Ashworth and those in her circle, she is invited to many social events. But when someone is murdered at the Circus Ball, Charlie finds herself playing detective in order to deliver good stories for her job. Combining an interesting main character with a great sense of place of late 1930's Paris, The Paris Mystery is an enjoyable start to this new mystery series.
