Bad Summer People by Emma Rosenblum

It's summer in the town of Salcombe on Fire Island and someone is found dead by the boardwalk. Who could it be? Bad Summer People introduces the reader to a lot of the inhabitants during the season and any one of them could be the victim. There's Lauren Parker and her husband, Jason. Jason is having an affair with his best friend's wife, Jen. Lauren, meanwhile, starts up a relationship with tennis pro, Robert. Jen's husband, Sam, and Jason grew up on the island and have been friends with Rachel for years. Rachel has pined for Sam every since they slept together once when they were young. Rachel, perpetually single, longs to be married and have kids. There's also college-aged Micah Holt, who observes much of what's going on, and Susan Steinhagen who runs the tennis club with an iron hand. An entertaining summer read, similar to Elin Hilderbrand's The Perfect Couple.
